My kids get the leftovers

You are present in the room and gone in the head. They get screens, snacks, and a short fuse.

Diagnosis

Children do not need a perfect parent. They need a regulated one who keeps a standard. If work, phone, and mood eat the evening, they will inherit your chaos and call it home.

Protocol

  1. 1Protect one daily block that is theirs. No phone. No half-attention. Short is fine. Fake is not.
  2. 2Give one age-appropriate hard thing with a finish line. Love includes weight.
  3. 3Repair the snap. Same day. Do not make them manage your shame.

The standard: One undivided block. One honest repair. Your example louder than your lecture.

Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
