I need them to like me

Yes that should have been no. Exhaustion. Hidden resentment. Soft standards.

Diagnosis

Likability is a terrible mission. You will sell the truth to buy a feeling that expires by Thursday. Respect outlasts being liked. You already know this. You just do not want the bill.

Protocol

  1. 1Practice one clean no without a 4-paragraph apology.
  2. 2Notice whose approval you are shopping for. Name them. That is the idol.
  3. 3Replace 'hope they get it' with a direct sentence.

The standard: One honest no. One honest yes. No performance around either.

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? … If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
